1992 Rickenbacker 2030GF
This limited artist series bass is absolutely a limited one. Of what was supposed to be 1000 Gley Frey models, around only 51 or so 2030GF basses were produced. Around 200 guitars (230GF) were made. So if you're looking to complete your collection of signature models by Rickenbacker, this may be one of very few chances you get. It's made in 1992, comes complete with certificate and original hard case. Some of the most interesting things about this bass is Rickenbacker painted the maple fretboard with the same black (aka Jetglo) paint from the body, headstock, and back of the neck. It also features HB2 humbucking pickups which are incredibly hot. They sound fantastic, just very hot. It has knobs never seen before on other Ricks and a silver back-painted guard on the Jetglo finish is a striking theme. As for condition, it has some finish checking (fairly normal for this era of guitars), a little nick at the end of the headstock, and a few areas on the fretboard where the black paint is flaking off and exposing the maple underneath. It's otherwise seems to have hardly been used in it's 34 year life. It would look good in a collection of other signature basses or for someone who wants a very non-standard Rickenbacker with a big full humbucking tone. Currently strung with LaBella Low Tension flatwound strings.
